Atlantic City–born Hooter began his music journey in 1974, inspired by big band jazz, blues, and rock ’n’ roll. Starting on guitar before switching to bass in 1977, he’s since played over 10,000 gigs across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Israel. Now based in Phoenix since 2012, he continues to perform actively and has earned multiple honors, including two Arizona Blues Hall of Fame nominations, five WC Handy Award nominations, and appearances at major blues events such as the Chicago Blues Festival alongside legend Big Jack Johnson.
