Desert Ridge Marketplace is pleased to present Jazz in the Courtyard featuring Paradise Valley Community College’s (PVCC) talented faculty musicians. Proudly sponsored by the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), the series explores the rich musical traditions of various jazz composers and genres. Held on September 10th, October 8th and December 10th from 12-2pm, the Jazz Series is led by PVCC music faculty, Dr. Brett Reed, and showcases PVCC instructors in the ensemble.

PVCC Fine Arts

As PVCC faculty, the musicians bring their musical experience to the classroom in courses ranging from ensembles to music theory to private instruction. The department’s year-round course offerings support those students who wish to continue their musical studies as a music major at a four-year institution or who wish to obtain a specific skill in a musical field. In addition to the Music Program, the Division of Fine & Performing Arts also provides courses, special events and an artist’s community for students at all levels in the disciplines of Creative Writing, Dance, Theatre and Visual Arts. Musical Instrument Museum (MIM)

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) enriches our world by collecting, preserving, and making accessible an astonishing variety of musical instruments and performance videos from every country in the world. MIM fosters appreciation of the world’s diverse cultures by showing how we innovate, adapt, and learn from each other to create music—the language of the soul. In addition to hosting performances by renowned artists, the MIM Music Theater introduces guests to emerging talents from around the world. Each performance is an extension of the museum exhibits – showcasing the instruments, the people who play them, and the musical language we share. To learn more about MIM please visit MIM.org.
